It’s hard to make predictions about politics because the decision makers have perverse/unknown sets of incentives. In contrast, it’s much easier to make guesses with reasonable error bars when the decision maker is spending his/her own money.

Land is only a problem because of the dept of education. Competition wouldn’t be nearly so fierce if there wasn’t a monopoly on good schooling. Look at a heat map of property values. They are sharply discontinuous around school district borders.

Yes. Beware self-selection in general is a good heuristic. I question how much more effective LW is making anyone vs LW self selecting for people who are already generally good at the sorts of behaviors LW encourages.
OTOH this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, gathering successful people under a common banner is useful.

if you want short term gains I’m not sure what nutrition advice I can give.
For me eating healthy is about living longer in a more optimal state of health, short term I can pump in garbage and not see a huge change because I’m young.

IME highly intelligent people really do have different revealed preferences than normal people. Also keep in mind normal just means average. I think appeals to populism are just another form of applause lights TBH.
reading is serial too. I don’t actually have any expertise in this area but it seems like hearing and language shouldn’t necessarily involve the same part of the brain.
