In the US, “socialism” is a derogatory word used for the belief the government shouldn’t let you die, and that it should serve you (rather than you it). This works fine in Europe, and there is no connection to socialism or communism.
It’s not possible to infer, from a single-ruling murderous party failing to govern acceptably (the central example of “communism”), that what ring right-wing (or other) Americans call “socialism” is negative or undesirable in any way.
This comment seems right to me, but maybe it’s misunderstanding the OP? I’d imagine that the OP was talking about “actual socialism (communism)” and not “derogatory word US libertarians use for left-ish policy”? There are definitely some people sympathizing with “actual socialism (communism).”
I mean, probably a lot of LWers are libertarians but I’d hope they don’t consider politics an easy enough issue where mainstream disagreeing views without an obviously atrocious track record are basically “backwards in terms of moral progress.”

I don’t think those are numerous enough for anyone to notice.
