I tend to doubt that. It sounds to me like the author (Yudkowsky) is simply going to heroic efforts to rule out all possible lines of attack that readers are coming up with here so he can instead take the story where he wants it go.
Magic in the canon HPVerse is ridiculously powerful and illogical. Almost every spell is at least a plot device if not an outright deus ex machina. Thus Yudkowsky has to go to equally ridiculous lengths to prevent Harry from Munchkining his way out of every situation, this one included. The lengths to which he is going here suggest to me that the author really, really wants Hermione to stay dead, not that Dumbledore is lying. (FYI, I don’t find this Dumbledore that different from canon. I just think he’s more nuanced because Harry is a lot wiser and smarter in this version, and thus interacts with Dumbledore differently. The only adult who feels out of canon character to me is Snape.)
