I found this pretty valuable. I think it’d be nice if it went through and got a better editing pass. I’m not 100% sure what the ideal platonic version of this post is – it’s current form is somewhat rambly response to another post, which is in turn a response to a few random other things, and maybe it’s basically fine as-is, but I feel like this was a good exploration of a bunch of communication dynamics.
I think I’d have liked it if each section (especially the latter ones?) were more explicit about what levels of simulacra were at play. I feel like the latter two got a bit more handwavy about it.
Agreed that things could be more explicit in a lot of places. Part of the issue is that simulacrum levels are not the only thing going on and aren’t always a good descriptor.
