It occurs to be that this definition isn’t symmetric. I have influence over my future self, but they have little influence over me. So they are me, but I am not they.
We’re defining “future self”. So Oscar2012 is Oscar2011′s future self, but not vice versa. Makes sense to me.
This assumes your future self will not invent or obtain a method of time travel.
Edit: Let me rephrase—your ‘future self’ is someone you have power over. So no, current!You is presumably not future!You’s future self.
