One thing I noticed as I started reading this is this is very different from my experience in organizing a meetup. That’s because how we plan meetups locally has organically evolved in step with our experiences. One issue I have is people prefer consistency, but due to personal issues I can’t plan, organize or host meetups on a consistent schedule, yet I’m one of few people who promotes meetups. Well, that was the case a while ago, although as of late that is changed. More people are organizing meetups independent of myself, so I think it’s more possible for us to systematize it. I think you did a good job capturing the basic values and functions meetups can serve, though how they are pursued as goals is distorted by local conditions.
