It’s allowing us to get the results out of the simulation. Without it you could dismiss the question of whether the consciousnesses actually exist as so much philosophical nonsense, but with it I can actually show you the results.
Sorry, I meant that I think the arguement doesn’t depend on the quantum speed up.
Maybe? It makes it more obvious something is going on here than if you had to call the function 2^n times.
