Proposed schedule says they hope to get there this year:
“Before a brief shutdown of the LHC for Christmas, CERN hopes to boost the energy to 1.2 TeV per beam – exceeding the world’s current top collision energies of 1 TeV per beam at the Tevatron accelerator in Batavia, Illinois.
In early 2010, physicists will attempt to ramp up the energy to 3.5 TeV per beam, collect data for a few months at that energy, then push towards 5 TeV per beam in the second half of the year.”

The hamster waits.
Or if 1.2 TeV isn’t enough to defy the hidden limit—then we all know that collider’s never coming on again after Christmas!
If it does come on, of course, and destroys the world, this will disprove the anthropic principle.

They are now up to 2.36 tera-electron volts and counting...
For whom?
Pushing back the proposed DOOM-date (when DOOM fails to materialise) is a classic trick, though.
For example, Wayne Bent / Michael Travesser employs it at the very end of this documentary:

Clearly you haven’t heard about the Movable Dates of Prophecy.
This might be relevant if anyone here were seriously proposing that the LHC is likely to be catastrophic.
