No. It’s good, although risky, advice. In my life, the two single biggest factors involved in making me more empathetic were 1) powerful psychedelics taken with healing intentions 2) a loving, long term sexual relationship with a very empathetic girl.

To all interested persons: Please read the following review paper about MDMA’s use for psychological healing. There are many wonderful papers that can be found in the references list as well. I agree with achiral that it’s risky business. The LW post I linked to discusses the risks. I should have made that more clear.
