I refer to the general change in public interpretation of the post from “a bit silly and idiosyncratic” to “trolling”, I just put your name there as the champion of the latter. That change to the sentiment regarding the context and is damn annoying.
Borderline ‘trollishness’ can be the most annoying kind. Far easier to end up collateral damage at the fringes.
Well to be fair, I think the nature of the post has changed. I initially took it as “a bit silly and idiosyncratic”, or, more accurately, “Will’s being crazy again”, but when he started trolling in the comments, that’s when I made my comment. It started out as… well… I don’t know. But it’s turned into simple fishing for negative attention.

For the greater glory of God
Oh, in that case you have definitely made an error. I mean… seriously. Have you read your Bible? I hear even Catholics let the commonfolk read those now. There is all this stuff about “being a light to the world” and even more about spreading your seed and reaping tenfold (convertin’ folks). Instead what you are doing is making yourself look like a jackass and reflecting negative glory to God. That and giving people the distinct impression that temptation to convert to a religion may be a sign of mental illness.
Yes yes, the obvious points. Yet I’ve gone this route anyway. You might not care, and that’s fine of course. But if you do care, it might be fun for you: why would someone with my goals do what I’m doing? If it’s not fun, don’t bother, of course.

I’ve thought about it in the past and come up with all sorts of hypotheses. Some of them involve complex decision theoretical reasoning based off esoteric priors you have mentioned having and some are far more mundane. Unfortunately I do, in fact, conclude that you are mistaken. This implies that each of those hypotheses actually amounts to “reasoning which almost makes Will’s conclusion the correct one but which is slightly flawed”.
I’d be interested to hear actual reasons. Or partial reasons which could apply to an artificially constructed counterfactual person. But I cannot present a prediction of exactly what your own reasoning is with any confidence.
It might help for you to know that the reasons that provoked this post are facts about the world that you do not currently possess. Not just pragmatic, moral, or philosophical arguments. So whatever theory you come up with should somehow take that into account.
If this has anything to do with Eldritch abominations lurking in dark space or clandestine conspiracies and organizations with vast resource and advanced technology I think it is best you share this information with me.
Or you could just be your annoying self and refuse to be helpful by bridging inferential gaps. At least until I stomp on and break your ankles.
It’s a sad fact that I saw this comment and thought, “Oh, someone’s RPing Commander Shepard. That’s more interesting/useful than much of this thread.”
I endorse this retracted comment as probably the best plain literal answer to the questions presented. (But unfortunately need to Lumley-proof it.)
I should maximise it.
Likely. Please give a one sentence description of your terminal values (or equivalent). Without that the question is meaningless.
To clarify, since there seems to be a misunderstanding, my comment was not specifically directed at you, nor was I a downvoter of this comment.

It has. It got rather dramatic with moderation polls and whatnot. I don’t even know if I’ve seen that before here ever.
Ad maiorem Dei gloriam inque hominum salutem.

You sound like Herod talking about Jesus. Presumably you are playing the straight-fascist on purpose and Will is not the only troll-god here?

Well one theory is this.
Yes, up there among Eliezer’s worst ideas!
Well, it’s a decent dark arts technique if nothing else.

Haven’t I given you enough of a hint with all this drama? I gave you what I could—the world is out there, you can explore it yourself, Commander.
I’ll talk to you later.
I hope you’ll tell me what you find.
