I think this position has some merit, though I disagree. I think Ziz is a name that is hard to Google and get context on, and also feels like it’s chosen with intimidation in mind. “LaSota” is me trying to actively be neutral and not choose a name that they have actively disendorsed, but while also making it a more unique identifier, not misgendering them (like their full legal name would), and not contributing to more bad dynamics by having a “cool name for the community villain”, which I really don’t think has good consequences.
I think it’s not clear that “LaSota” refers to Ziz unless you already happen to have looked up the news stories and used process of elimination to figure out which legal name goes with which online handle, which makes it ineffective for communicative purposes.
