Some of the more compelling arguments I thought SMTM made were regarding the Civil War veterans and the hunter-gatherers. Particularly the elderly, who you would expect to get less physical activity across cultures, or people who had desk jobs in 1890. How much difference is there between sedentary people of the past or in isolated areas, and sedentary people of today?
