Another way of looking at this is that the human body and genetic codebase is, frankly, shit. (We literally have shit inside of us.) If we digitize human consciousness (for life in virtual worlds or as downloads onto robotic bodies) then we would be able to edit our code, including intelligence, much more quickly. Besides, rather than adding a few years to our lives, we could live indefinitely, and we could have backups. We would get our energy directly from electricity, rather than having to rely on the inefficient sun>plants>animals chain, and all the adjacent, well… shit.
