It’s both. You need charity to communicate accurately, and also to form accurate beliefs. The fact that people you haven’t been charitable towards seem stupid to you is not reliable data.
I can tell someone the answer, but they may might not believe me. The might better off researching it form reliable sources than trying to figure it out from yet another stupid internet argument.
