Then imo the n+1 factor inside the expected value should be deleted. $(n + 1) (\frac{1}{n} \sum_{i = 1}^{n} a_{i} - \frac{1}{n + 1} \sum_{i = 1}^{n + 1} a_{i}) = (1 + \frac{1}{n}) \sum_{i = 1}^{n} a_{i} - \sum_{i = 1}^{n + 1} a_{i} = \frac{1}{n} \sum_{i = 1}^{n} a_{i} - a_{n + 1}$
