Bought a router: Recently researched and purchased a Milwaukee router, which involved reading lots of reviews and searching various woodworking forums for suggestions about a) routers in general and b) opinions about those routers. I went with this one because it has enough hp for my inlay work but also enough to allow me to do other, bigger projects with it down the road. It had the best aesthetics and handling (I went to 5 different stores to compare with other models) compared to the other top models I looked at. I found mention of vibration for the model I got and also emailed the manufacturer directly, and they responded… which earned them points. Sounds kind of stupid as I’m typing it, but buying something like this was actually quite a bit of work in terms of researching around to be confident in my investment.
Woodworking: I’ve made three cribbage boards (two pictured HERE and HERE), and as a result of how well they turned out, I’ve been commissioned ($) to make two more for friends. One is in progress. The router I bought allows me to continue with these projects and return the one I’ve been borrowing for ~4ish months
Finished painting the kitchen walls around the back door I installed around Thanksgiving while my wife was out of town. She appreciated not having to look at spackling powder/white primer anymore...
Trying to turn the LW sequences into a more usable form; I’m approaching a milestone on this and will post about it soon.
Actual, getting-paid kind of work in the rest of the time...
Why this stuff? Probably not wholly rational. My birthday just came and since I got some monetary gifts I was able to but the router, which is necessary for my woodworking. With my wife gone, it was easy to think of things she wanted done that I could do to make her happy upon return. I’ve been wanting to read the sequences and thus I’m turning them into something to make it easier for me to read/take notes, and that I think might benefit others.
Cool topic.

There ya go.
