No topic this week since it’s a social/wildcard week. Instead, we’ll go skating at the outdoor Waterloo rink—weather permitting.
Meet inside The Shops at Waterloo Town Square—we will congregate in the seating area to the left of the Valu Mart at 7pm for 15 minutes, and then stake a place near the skating rink in front of the shops.
Skate Rentals
If you don’t own skates, McPhail’s up at King and Bridgeport does $15 one day rentals.
Try to get there by 5:30 because they close at 6, and you might need to try on a couple of pairs. Bring a largeish bag and a cloth or rag of some sort to wipe down the skates after you’re done with them to prevent them from rusting.
There are also options to borrow skates from the Kitchener or Waterloo public libraries, but you may be subject to your size not being available. Enterprising members of KWR may want to coordinate shoe sizes, as each library card can borrow 3 pairs of skates (at least in Kitchener). You may have some luck calling ahead as well.
8:15 Pub Decampment
We probably won’t want to skate for over 45 minutes, so the skating portion of the evening will be over at 8.
Folks who can’t make it to the skating portion of the event should make their way over to the Piper Arms pub at 8:15 if they want to meet up with the rest of the group. Please RSVP if you’re doing this so I know how big of a table to get!
Inclement Weather
In case the weather is no good for skating, I’ll just see all of you at the pub at 8:15.
