As someone else who regrettably shares your position, allow me to point out:
And...my comments were highly upvoted. That should take considerable force out of any accusation of “arrogance”. I am representing a point of view that quite a number of people share. What do you make of this?
“Highly upvoted”? Ten or twenty anonymous people agreeing with you is hardly exceptional. I could find ten or twenty people that agree the Earth is flat and the clouds are made of fire. Or, for more LW flavor, I can find ten or twenty heavily committed deists.
Unpopular ideas can be right; popular ideas can be wrong. I had thought the water really was up to my ankles, but I guess it isn’t, yet.
At the risk of stating the obvious, the opinion of random LessWrongers on some position carries information that the opinion of people hand-picked for agreement with the position does not.
There are far more eloquent people in this thread arguing other things at far more length, and therefore it seems it has far more stamina for that kind of thing than I do.

Karma is far too noisy a channel to communicate anything as subtle as an the aggregate opinion on a comment.
Actually it is. I don’t usually get upvoted to those levels. Something was different about those comments.
(EDIT: Nonetheless, I have edited that sentence out.)
I agree with the first sentence; I don’t understand the second.
I think it’s a reference to the sanity waterline.
You don’t act like you agree with the first sentence, so I’m at a loss. I didn’t really expect to change your mind, in any case.
You didn’t expect basically trolling him to change his mind? Good prediction.

Am I wrong, though?
