I think it’s worthwhile to note that some things, exercise and the tackling the hard problems of Alignment are a great example, simply have Ugh Fields. The only solution to an Ugh Field is to use positive reinforcement to wade or dive into a task that you have an aversion to, in order to overcome the Pavlovian conditioning that made you associate the averred task with pain/regret/failure. Otherwise, you’ll bounce off the problem in ludicrously complicated ways, often resulting in reinforcing the act of bouncing off the problem.
For exercising, for example, the solution is to wade back into it, but there’s tons of tasks that are more daunting than painful, and thus the solution is to dive if positive reinforcement is probable.
