I prefer to stick to a few primary sources I understand than be “lied” to by secondary sources that pretend to have reviewed the literature but are just parroting stuff.
Given that a lot of research doesn’t replicate it’s easy to be lied to by primary sources as well. Especially if you don’t have the background to evaluate the statistical methods and know what kind of reputation the researchers of the paper have for research that replicates.
