One consequence of Split and Commit is that you become less legible to other people. It requires more mental effort to keep track of all the permutations or other people’s stances. This makes cooperation harder.
I have not received feedback that I seem less legible since adopting this norm, tho a) I might just not be told and b) you may be more pointing at a cost of widespread adoption.

Yes. Some people can surround themselves with others where this works. But it might not scale.
