There may be non-AI-related causes. I’m wondering how much this has to do with Elon Musk, the owner of X (which is no longer called ‘Twitter’, BTW) laying off a large fraction of their moderation staff (and many staff across the board), and running the service into the ground so that most of the large companies who used to advertise there have stopped doing so, thus leaving them presumably desperate for any advertising at all. Or it could be related to an extremely basic machine learning algorithm, not really worthy of the name AI, noticing that some proportion of adult males click on this ad, and not having any ads to show you that scored as a better fit to your profile and history (since most of their regular advertisers have stopped).
