That’s great! Were you, like me, disturbed by EY’s suggestion that a genuine eutopia HAS to be scary? I do prefer to know that I can have perfect safeguards against anything, including psychological disquiet, at any moment, even if I choose to tune them down.
The obvious direction to take the scary factor is the level of free choice they have, if I want to turn off all pain, take drugs or wire-head whats to stop me? IT seems the machines facilitate all human desires.

I think his point was more that any plausible utopia would be scary, because it would be different.
But a story to convince people that utopias can actually be interesting places to live in is not the place to bring up all the scary parts...
