That fanfiction has probably done more to raise the sanity waterline than lesswrong.com. I’m basing this assertion on the fact that five of my friends have read HP:MOR and all seemed to learn from it, but none have the patience or free time to invest in LW.
(I just realized that this kind of thought is why we have open threads. It’s an observation I’ve been kicking around for a while but it never seems appropriate to bring up on this site.)
It’s certainly letting him be a fanfiction writer. And even a fanfiction reader too.
Yes, that’s true. Perhaps I’d be more disturbed by this if I was more sane and enjoyed the fan fic less.
