I’m not aware of any real push. OA pushed (and may still be pushing) in the inverse direction, recursive summarization of novels, with some success. Matt Brockman and some others were early on discussing a bit how to do recursive expansion but AFAIK no one ever got a prototype working and everyone has long since moved on (especially now that the API isn’t free so a single novel from davinci with full context windows would cost a fair bit)
