Meetup : Utrecht: Famine, Affluence and Morality
Discussion article for the meetup : Utrecht: Famine, Affluence and Morality
At the last meetup we decided to have biweekly meetups on Saturday evenings. We will see if this turns out to be convenient. This time we want to discuss Peter Singer’s essay “Famine, Affluence and Morality”. Link: http://commonsenseatheism.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Singer-Famine-Affluence-and-Morality.pdf Wiki-link: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Famine,Affluence,and_Morality The first half of the essay contains the most important information. Other effective altruism and rationality topics are welcome too of course. Especially if you have any specific questions to discuss don’t hesitate to bring them up. We have a meetup.com presence of Lesswrong/Effective Altruism Nederland now. Please click attend if you want to join. http://www.meetup.com/Less-Wrong-Nederland/events/170182532/
We will meet in a café called De Winkel van Sinkel, which is 400m walking distance from Utrecht Centraal. The meetup will be held in English. I will be holding a sign that says “LW” on it.
If you can’t find us please call me at +31684140766.
In the mailing list for the meetup we have just been discussing about starting at 17:00 already. Just to let people here know. I might change the starting time tomorrow or so. If that would be a problem please let me know.
Update: Those who can, please join us at 17:00 already, but those who join at 19:00 won’t miss the main meetup.
