[I] am titled “Research Fellow” because I helped found SIAI and I consider it nobler not to give myself grand titles like Grand Poobah.
It seems to me that the titles “Director of Research” and “Executive Director” give the holders power over you, and it is not noble to give other people power over you in exchange for dubious compensation, and the fact that Ben’s track record (and doctorate?) lend credibility
to the organization strikes me as dubious compensation.
Example: the holders of the titles might have the power to disrupt your scientific plans by bringing suit claiming that a technique or a work you created and need is the intellectual property of the SI.
