This is a weird question I want to ask someone with more experience on LessWrong, and I can’t find a better place to ask it than here: there are some comments out there on certain posts, usually replies to previous comments, that are juts *blank*. These tend to have a huge number of downvotes. What are these comments? Accidents? Intentional spam? Retracted comments that avoid outright deleting or “retracting” a message?
Retracted comments that avoid outright deleting or “retracting” a message?
Yep, that’s approximately it. We don’t allow deletion of comments if there are replies to your comment (since that would hide the replies). So some people work around that by blanking out their comments.
