I think the question of understanding the institution of academia is a very important one, and one where I can imagine a lot of valuable progress being made on LW. And this post gives some good framing and contrast to existing discussions of the topic.
In general, I think that book-reviews and excerpts from podcasts are a pretty good way to create valuable posts, with maybe a lower level of effort than writing things from scratch, and so have a guess that the world would be better if more people would do it.
