I don’t know if the “1000 Sadists problem” is the common term for this scenario, it’s just one I’ve seen used in a couple of places.
“Desire utilitarianism” is a term invented by one Alonzo Fyfe and it isn’t preference utilitarianism. It’s much closer to “motive utilitarianism”.
Someone ought to add a few words about it to Wikipedia.
It was tried a couple years back, Wikipedia shut down the attempt.
