I think you need another category of “implicit beliefs”. These are things revealed by choices that don’t necessarily match one’s expressed nor introspected beliefs. Relatedly, I suspect you have a sharper boundary between your private beliefs and your public (or semi-public) beliefs than many. A whole lot of people can’t hide their distaste for something they believe is harmful, even if they don’t try to justify that belief publicly.

That a belief is private, as I’m using the word here, doesn’t mean that you’re trying to hide what you believe. My expressing distaste for something doesn’t mean that I’m making a bid that others feel the same way that I do.
