I often see this type of post on here. I think this platform attracts certain type of personality, people like Alex. People who procrastinate but don’t want to feel guilty about procrastinating. Watching TV can be a form of procrastination too. I think what defines procrastination is lack of goals and process. This platform doesn’t have to be used for procrastination, but the form information is presented temporally is extremely inefficient, so I can’t imagine anybody actually relying on this site’s content for anything productive. Maybe there are one or two posts where you can focus and be productive about, but they lack long term direction, unlike mastering a certain skill.
There are good and bad quality posts on here, so unlike most social media, one can feel “productive” on here. I’ve spent a lot of my time unemployed, and I was mostly procrastinating on life in general since I wasn’t really being productive consistently. Making money for survival is a necessity, so we don’t really call that procrastination regardless of how we feel about such activity.
Procrastination allows your mind to relax. You only feel like you want to procrastinate because you need to relax. If you can make yourself relaxed all the time, then it becomes easier to not procrastinate. That’s a large part of the reason why I’m high all the time. You just take it easy with everything. After awhile, you will find a new pace to life. Getting the moderation and dosage right is something you’ll have to explore. I’ve gotten into this type of habit since I’ve been smoking, so once I stop, I still operate on this habit. First, you will only want to have fun because it feels so good to have fun while high. Then you get bored of it and try to live a normal life, and that’s when you can start implementing new habits in a relaxed condition. I’m not sure if this is something that works for anyone else, but this is a large part of why I smoke all the time, but smoking is not a large part of the reason why I don’t procrastinate.
Like I said about being unemployed for awhile, that type of lifestyle when lived for quite awhile, can change your perspective about a lot of things if you spend the extra time in proactive introspection. I also think procrastination is a way people look at time. It’s about the immediate gratification. If you can reason to yourself and convince yourself that you have to do this sooner or later, then you will not feel like you need to relax because you wouldn’t feel tense or stressed when doing it in the first place. Today I read in a reddit post saying that all self-help books come down to stop whining. I feel like whining is what ultimately causes unhappiness. The best way to stop whining is to reason yourself out of being in the whiny state of emotion. Once you are relaxed, everything is easy.
