I think one of the biggest problems with ouble crux is that by finding double cruxes, it implicitly encourages us to look at the most mutually legible parts of our maps.
However, the biggest differences in frames aren’t where you think X and I think not X, it’s where you think X and I think “What the hell do you mean by X?” or “Why do you even care about X anyway it seems irrelevant?”
In my previous startup, this led to a situation where we were agreeing on what to do, but there were deep unaddressed differences in why we were doing it, leading to a million different decisions at the level of “how it was done.”
One of the things that excites me about Frame double crux and Aesthetic double crux is that it seems to be getting at some of these deeper issues. However, I think the entire frame of double crux is slightly broken for getting to these deeper issues, because again its’ always focused on mutual legibility that as “what parts of your map are also important in my map” and not “How can I understand which parts of your map are most important to you?
