The source image is just as big, it’s just resized in the browser. This is bad because browsers still have to load the whole file, which is long and can’t be good for LW’s servers either, and because browsers usually just do a quick resize instead of the prettier ones requiring more expensive algorithms. I don’t have anything better than Paint handy otherwise I’d do it for you.
Aesthetic concern: Having the poker hands displayed is a really cool idea. However, you may wish to remove the initial image.
Edit: The image has been resized. The change makes the article look much nicer.
It’s good, but way too big. Resizing it beats removing it beats leaving it as such.
