High consumption of wheat (and other grains) and sugar are thought to significantly contribute to cancer and heart disease because hunter gatherers eating their traditional diets supposedly had very low rates of these two diseases. Many paleo people practice fasting to promote autophagy. I practice bulletproof intermittent fasting.
