There are maybe two or three people in the entire world who spend only the bare possible minimum on themselves, and contribute everything else to a rationally effective charity. They have an excuse for not signing up. No one else does.
The world is full of poor people who genuinely cannot afford to sign up for cryonics. Whether they spend whatever pittance may be left to them above bare subsistence on charity or on rum is irrelevant.
The world also contains many people like me who can afford to eat and live in a decent apartment, but who can’t afford health insurance. I’m not so convinced I should be thinking about cryonics at this point either.
