Is it my imagination, or has there been a bit of a rash of account-deleting lately? I’ve noticed, within the last month or thereabouts) one formerly-prominent LW user explicitly announcing the intention to delete their account and then doing it, and another just deleting their account without—so far as I saw—any announcement. I’m not so observant that I would expect to have noticed every such deletion. So quite likely there are more.
I was never a prominent poster, but I recently switched accounts for idiosyncratic reasons. I noticed only one other recent deletion (the first case that you mention).
I suspect—on the basis of similarity of name—that yours may be the second account I had in mind. (Though if so, I’d classify you as a somewhat-prominent poster: certainly one whose account name I recognized.)
Given this and other responses and non-responses, I’m revising downward my estimate of how likely it is that there are a bunch of other recent deletions I haven’t noticed. So, maybe not much of a rash after all.
Hmm. I didn’t think this name was a strong clue. And I wouldn’t want to be wrongly associated with someone else’s old account, so if you care about it, you can PM with the old name I can verify or not (the old account was essentially as anonymous as this name).
Not sure there is a common pattern. The former case had to do with certain privacy realizations, I think, and the latter case was a lack of fit between the person and the local culture.
I think you just provided me with more evidence that there are more cases than I explicitly know about, because the not-announced one I had in mind was someone whose fit with the local culture was (I think) just fine.
[EDITED to add: But clearly we have the same first case in mind.]
Is there anywhere that the number of registered account, deleted account, active accounts, etc. are publicly available? I don’t usually use Reddit and am therefore pretty unfamiliar with the features the codebase provides.

In that case it almost certainly isn’t you after all. I’ll PM you anyway just out of curiosity :-).
