I don’t think that when searching for friends and mates you’re looking for a mirror.
In an ideal partner there is a balance between the degree to which s/he is similar to you and the degree to which s/he is different (in particular, complementary: strong where you are weak and vice versa).
My interpretation: in order to have more awesome social interactions, try to seek out both friends and mates who are similar to you along most axes.
