Let me argue against the theory that conservatism is a rational response to epistemic uncertainty via your examples.
On the science replication crisis, the real lesson is that even well designed single studies is not definitive. Effect sizes need to be shown as well as stasticial significance, and no single study is definitive. Really, the only reason why it even matters is that the media hypes up a single study as definitive, when it isn’t at all.
And the postmodernist critique of science doesn’t get more useful than it used to be, since the problem is really media reporting and hype of single studies to all hell. It’s still just as useless as it was before (Even though I give postmodernism credit for admitting that there aren’t True Objective Valuestm, they totally fail when criticizing science or modernism.)
