I have known about Hacker News for ages, mentally filing it away as yet another Internet news aggregation site. However, I just happened to look at @newsycombinator and was quite surprised at how much of it was gold.
It is another news aggregation service, but it just happens to be the best :). There is a credible hypothesis that it’s not as good as it used to, as well. But it’s still head and shoulders over everything else (minus LW). I also came to OB via HN if I recall correctly.
