What we really need is a long series of articles composed of three things, randomly mixed together:
bad things that happened to non-white LW readers, even if those things happened outside of the rationalist community; just any bad stuff, it doesn’t even have to be related to race;
negative experience of non-white visitors on LW meetups, whether related to their race or not;
any complaints of non-white visitors about LW content, whether related to their race or not; e.g. topics they don’t like, words we should be using either more or less, the emotional level of the discussion, whatever.
Why are these three components necessary?
The first one is there to make sure there is a lot of material. The second one is there to make you feel guilty. The third one is there to provide you something to do, so you can atone for your sins—make any discussion about genetics a taboo, perhaps change the background color of the page, and you will get the warm feeling of knowing you did your part in the world-wide fight against injustice.
I was reasonably sure that all of us were beyond that form of foolishness. Stuff posted by LW Women has been orders of magnitude less accusatory and guilt-inducing than ANYthing else out there.
Nay, that would be too kind to our readers.
