I’d like to know what is the reason behind American women distrusting American men so much i.e. expecting harassment, rape or something. Why don’t you see this in e.g. Western Europe and if the answer is people are “nicer” there, then maybe why don’t you see this in Eastern Europe even though on the whole people are more aggressive/passionate.
Is it a multiculturalism thing: it makes harder to read each others values, intentions or also there are no subconsciously shared courting rules and rituals, and as long as the man sticks to them you subconsciously expect no problem?
Is a society being less passionate/aggressive is sometimes a disadvantage, not an advantage? I know EE girls who are so unafraid of men because they think like, “I have ten sharp red lacquered claws and can tear a face off or an eye out, high heels that are really painful in a crotch” etc. so they know they would not be easily victimized. I remember the story when a guy in Budapest was beaten up by some other guy just for fun and he was losing, his wife just walked there, and inserted one kick in the opponents thigh in high stilleto heel boot. Instantly over and ambulance called. I don’t think she is much afraid of harassment or not respecting her nos...
This is partially why I don’t understand the distrust in America. You can have guns! Why don’t you just buy confidence by putting a .22 into the purse? The women I described above would totally love to do that...
Exactly how this sort of social attitude evolves is very path-dependent. There may not necessarly be a reason why these ideas are more common in the US other than “these ideas happened to spread a bit more than others, and some ideas get amplified the more other people believe them”.
