I’m not sure I completely follow your reply to the hot dog and bun example. As the questioner pointed out, we may simply be reaching a saturation of the amount of hot dogs and buns we need. Maybe I’m being unfair but I feel you hand-waved that concern away. You say that:
We do not literally have nothing better for unemployed workers to do. Our civilization is not that advanced.
Which is true, but doesn’t address the question, because you don’t have to have robots replace 100% of humans for some people to find themselves without a job.
It’s plausible we’ll never see a city with a high-speed all-robotic all-electric car fleet because the government, after lobbying from various industries, will require human attendants on every car—for safety reasons, of course!
I am sad to say that I agree with you, and in fact I have seen otherwise logical people support this position (though I have converted many of them personally).
