Does anyone know why GiveWell is registered with the IRS under a different name (Clear Fund)? I am including a link to their recommendation for the AMF on a wedding registry and have already gotten a question about about why their name differs.
I had noticed that when I got a receipt for a donation I made to them, but I assumed “Clear Fund” was their former name and they hadn’t bothered to legally change it or something and didn’t worry too much about that.

This is extremely common, though the link pinyaka gave has a column for “doing business as,” which should say GiveWell, but is left blank.
I don’t know, but I encourage you to ask them if you don’t get an answer here.
