I’ve been reading up on working memory training (the general consensus is that training is useless or very nearly so). However, what I find interesting is how strongly working memory is correlated with performance on a wide variety of intelligence tests. While it seems that you can’t train working memory, does anyone know what would stand in the way of artificial enhancements to working memory? (If there are no major problems aside from BCIs not yet being at that point, I know what I will be researching over the next few months. If there is something that would prevent this from working, it would be best to know now.)
