Electrical engineering is not the appropriate discipline, and neither is most of computer science. AI/cognitive science and philosophy are the closest.
Appropriate experts to “debunk” the singularity would be analytic philosophers such as David Chalmers, or AI/cognitive science people like Josh Tenebaum or Stuart Russell, Peter Norvig, etc.
