META: The test appears already to have failed, in that people have downvoted your initial test argument below the visibility threshold, without downvoting the post itself, or explaining their actions. I’m not sure what to make of that, and it surprised me a lot. (I would have expected the post itself to also have been downvoted to oblivion, if people felt that strongly about it.)
META: My initial test argument was poorly argued (by myself), so the downvoting was what should have happened by the rules I set out; responses have arisen, and responses to them in turn, so in that, at least, it has succeed. At least one more argument has arisen, and I figure the test will take a couple of days to shake out either way. It’s actually been somewhat more successful than I originally anticipated, as I weighted the possibility that people wouldn’t want any political discussion here at all, even in this form, rather heavily.

I suspect endorsers of the experiment would upvote the post but may not reverse the downvotes to the test argument.
