The so-called “some posters” were right, but neglected to account for the self-fulfilling effect of drawing attention to the phenomenon. You all are tainting anything identified with this community and preventing good from being done.
Individuals who disregard negative social weight on concepts may privately explore those concepts for overlooked value and have an opportunity to bring that value to broader populations, doing good. But to do so they must persuade populations who still attach negative weight to those things associated with those social concepts to give their idea a try, AND overcome their personal reputation as one who associates with concepts that have negative social weight.
Small groups of individuals who disregard negative social weight on concepts may quietly explore those concepts and so forth. But they have the additional challenge of overcoming the general population’s bias against their group, another layer of vilification.
Large groups of individuals who similarly dismiss negative social weight and loudly, indulgently explore such concepts move beyond the label of ‘heretic’ and under the label ‘monster.’ Anything associate with them is sullied with guilt-by-association.
This thread bites the hand that feeds it and should be put down with prejudice.

I’ll ponder this, thanks.
