I also want to say that given the title of this and of Eliezer’s recent post on the same subject, I expect commenters might assume that the positions of the posts are in opposition. I actually feel like the two posts have a lot of agreement about how to do epistemology—heck, you even start with a similar motivated example for when to trust institutions.
