Since we’re in a Bayesian frame, any semantic targets should be assignments of values (e.g. X=12.3) to random variables in an agent’s model. (Note that this includes functions of random variables in the agent’s model, and data structures of random variables in the agent’s model.)
… but the set of possible semantic targets for words must be exponentially smaller than the full set of possible assignments of values to random variables.
